This course will emphasize the conceptual understanding of topics found in trigonometry and precalculus. You will learn skills needed to be successful in future math classes, especially calculus. The first part of the course will focus on trigonometry, and the second half will be on precalculus. A variety of resources will be used to ensure that you learn the material efficiently, but above all, actually enjoy it.

Students should know algebra (1 & 2) and geometry. While I will vaguely cover prerequisites and link to necessary material, such topics will not be covered extensively in the course itself.
Trigonometry: - brief review of algebra and functions - basic trig functions (sin, cos, tan) - more trig functions (csc, sec, tan) - radians and tau - special right triangles and the Pythagorean theorem - unit circle - graphing trig functions - trig identities - inverse trig functions - graphs of inverse trig functions - law of sines - law of cosines
Precalculus: - polynomial functions and roots - polar coordinates - complex numbers - conic sections - logarithmic and exponential functions - natural log and e - sequences and series - limits
I will make a subreddit specifically for this course, and all class materials will be posted there. I will post my lessons in PDF files that will be hosted on Google Docs. Additional material will be contained in the PDF files and posts on the subreddit. Class will begin on 10/22/2012.
A graphing calculator is NOT necessary. We will be using free software for graphing. You will not be required to purchase anything.
I'm a mathematics student with a passion. I have tutored students in numerous math courses such as algebra 1 & 2, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus.
